Florida, of course as you know where I went to school, when I was in High School had a pretty good amount of environmental sciences you could take. Aside from the obvious things like Biology 1 and 2 and Chemistry they offered Botany, Oceanography and actually Geology. That might be the standard across the U.S. now, but I felt it was a pretty diverse amount of environmental science. That all isn't counting the other science courses I was able to take. Granted it should be added that I was only able to take them because I was on Independent Study and had no elective courses to take.

#5 is a good idea. A lot of the guys I know from Sierra Club (Which I am a member. A Republican Conservationist. Go figure) and Equipped to Survive Forums do this. They scout out the rural areas that are selling those 50 gallon plastic drums. They rig one to be fed by one of their downspouts and then install a garden hose spigot at the bottom and take old garden hoses with 1/32" holes punctured into them every few inches and run them along their raised beds. One good rain gives you enough water for like three months. Also go with cedar for the raised beds. Pressure treated wood is filled with all kinds of crap that makes it great for building a deck, but not if you want those chemicals to leech into the ground where you grow food from.

I heard about the roof excursion. I believe it was a hose Oah(sp?) brought up. But in her defense she's half blind and even Indiana Jones is scared of snakes.
Everyone has their reasons for being vegetarian. Some have a much stronger moral incentive. But I do agree that most people underestimate their base survival instincts. No one can say how they'd react when they're starving in the middle of the Andes until they're starving in the middle of the Andes...

I don't find it surprising she assumed it was rabid. She's all for animal rights and is a vegetarian, but come crunch time and animal is in front of her she'll scream "KILL IT WITH FIRE!"

Ask her about the time she crawled onto the roof because she thought there was a snake in our parents bedroom. I think it turned out to be a belt.

This past week History Channel had a two hour special on called "The First Apocolypse" that discussed how they don't believe one thing killed off the Dinosaurs, but many and that even if you were to exclude the KT Boundry kill off and possibility of viruses that the Dinosaurs possible were already going extinct cause there is some river in I think Wyoming that about 150,000 years before the KT Boundry they went from 25 different species to only 9.
